A recent Mental Health Commission of Canada research report offers key recommendations and a new scale to help governments and organizations address opioid-related stigma and evaluate stigma-reduction interventions.
The 18-month research project included a scoping literature review, key informant interviews, focus groups, and a new scale to assess opioid stigma interventions among first responders. In the coming months, the MHCC will use this measure to evaluate current interventions and begin to scale up their effectiveness for first responders and health-care providers across the country.
