Homelessness Action Week is an annual week-long campaign held in over 20 communities across British Columbia, Canada. The first Homelessness Action Week began in 2006 to increase participation and public support for solving homelessness by government, the private sector, communities and individuals. The week promotes initiatives and projects that directly affect communities in a positive way, holding events for and about people who are homeless.

The Nanaimo Homeless Coalition brings together the organizations, citizens and governments that support our most vulnerable residents. Together, the coalition works to end homelessness while diminishing the harm it causes to individuals and community. The Coalition also organizes and hosts activities during Homelessness Action Week. Vancouver Island Mental Health Society is a Nanaimo Homeless Coalition partner and participant. Read Nanaimo’s Action Plan to End Homelessness here [opens to PDF].
