Writer and journalist Carlyn Zwarenstein has written extensively about her own experiences living with pain and depending upon opioid medications in order to have a functional life. Carlyn’s first book Opium Eater: The New Confessions is about opioid painkillers and pain. The book was named to The Globe and Mail’s list of the 100 Best Books of 2016.
Now Carlyn’s extensive personal experiences with opioids and the wisdom she has gleaned are being applied to the provincial, national and international conversations occurring about the opioid overdose crises.
Zwarenstein’s work has appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines including The Globe and Mail, The Washington Post, The Walrus, The National Observer and The Guardian.
