Housing is the foundation of our work with individuals, providing supportive and therapeutic environments for recovery
VIMHS provides a variety of housing options for members of our communities
Gateway House is a ten-bed, fully staffed and licensed residential facility. It offers a therapeutic, integrative and empowering life skills program that assists individuals to achieve their personal goals.
Bob Currie Place provides eight residents with an enhanced supported semi-independent living (SIL) program. Support workers and a case manager provide on-going support.
K.C. House provides five residents with a SIL program. The residents carry out daily living activities. A case manager and support workers provide support, assistance and encouragement to residents.
Boundary Crescent provides 41 furnished, self contained units of supportive housing. Through a unique partnership with Nanaimo Affordable Housing and Haven Society, VIMHS provides staffed tenant support services for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Rosehill Apartments (at 285 Rosehill Street in Nanaimo) offers 23 units of rental housing, with rates governed by BC Housing’s Community Housing Fund. All of the units are studio (i.e. “bachelor”) apartments; one is fully accessible for a tenant with mobility challenges. 4 of the units are designated as “deep subsidy”; 12 as “rent geared to income”; and 7 as “low market”.
